This is a great session. I need to investigate all of their links.

One school has the kids copy/paste their writing into Wordle to see how often they use the same words in their passages.

Use surveys to select book awards.

She seems very unprepared. Special Ed teacher. She really doesn't have anything to say that is worthwhile. She uses AR, but I don't think she said anything new.

Children's Literature Conference 2009

Dianne and I just arrived in Athens for the conference. The room is great and we ate way too much for lunch, so dinner is not happening.

I am going to show her blogger.com and Google Docs. She is wanting to use blogger for her presentation.

I have spent the better part of two days getting ready to teach this class. I am concentrating on the Teacher Tools. I think everybody already knows how to download videos.

Tech Thursday paperwork

I have all the paperwork from RESA that I needed and have sent out an email to the teachers. A couple of them have asked if they have to attend all ten classes if they don't need a PLU. I told them to come to as many as they want. The PLU is just a little extra incentive.

Terry Spell and Louise Roberts have expressed an interest.

Tech Thursday classes

I need to make a list of these classes and assign dates. I also HAVE to fill out the paperwork and send it to Deena Harper for approval. If I am going to start these on the 5th of February, I have to start advertising.

UPDATE - 1/26/2009 11:43 faxed RESA forms to Deena

Plagiarism

What does the student handbook say about plagiarism?

HS handbook section on plagiarism (p. 16).

1st offense - 0 grade, Parent/Guardian will be contacted.

2nd offense - 0 grade, Parent/Guardian will be contacted, Administrative referral, removal from honor clubs or activities may occur.

MS handbook does not address plagiarism. I will ask Heather if we can add it to their handbook. - Done.

Laptops for Thursday tech classes

I need to see about getting the laptop cart from Guidance for these classes. I want to run the updates before hand.

Blogging for teachers

I will have the teachers set up blogging accounts on blogger.com and get the urls from them. Then I will need to have Tommy unblock those accounts.

Edmodo

I think I will start out the Tech Thursday classes using Edmodo. If I can get the hang of it, it will be a wonderful way to teach the teachers about blogging and how to use it in the classroom. I wonder if they have to set up Edmodo accounts first?

I will probably not do this the first class because I don't want to overwhelm anyone. The homework assignment could be to setup their own accounts to use in their classes.
